2 or 3-Day Workshop
Creating vibrant portraits…finding colors inside values
Friday, January 27, Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Rail Station Studios
1013 15th Place, St. 101, Plano, TX
In addition to our on-going practice of focusing on the basics of portrait painting (proportions, gesture, likeness, flesh tones, etc.) in this workshop we will address the challenging and exciting quest for vibrant colors within value patterns.I find that this is one of the least understood areas among aspiring and accomplished portrait painters.
We will study the techniques of master portrait painters and learn from their methods of mastering colors inside values. Because painting figurative works is about “seeing” in special ways, we will be painting from a few different live models that will challenge what to look for in different facial and skin tone types. We’ll study techniques for seeing and using warm and cool color temperatures to create amazingly rich flesh tones. The workshop will include up to three full days of instruction and painting from these live models.
The full 3 days is recommended in order to get full benefit from the workshop…Friday, Saturday and Sunday (from 9:00 till 4:00 each day.) However, we are offering an option of choosing any two of those days…studio space permitting.
The total workshop fee for all three days is $300. The fee for two days is $200. A refundable deposit of $100 is required to reserve a spot in the workshop. The balance can be paid prior to, or at the beginning of the workshop.
