PSoA TX Chapter: “En Plein Air Painting in the Big Bend”, Labor Day Weekend, 2019!

 “En Plein Air Painting in the Big Bend”, on Labor Day Weekend, 2019 is presented by the Big Bend Arts Council in association with the West Texas Chapter the Portrait Society of America and the City of Alpine.

Enjoy a weekend of Plein Air painting, a Museum “Meet and Greet”, Sidewalk  Art exhibit and sale, and Plein Air art Exhibit August 30ththrough September 2nd,-Labor Day Weekend!
The event kicks off on Friday evening with a “meet and greet” at Museum of the Big Bend on Sul Ross State University campus. Artists will come to Alpine and paint “in the open air” at various locations in the Big Bend region.  Paint-outs are planned at the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, and the towns Fort Davis and Alpine.  Additional fun locations include Wasserman Wranch, or the Fort in Fort Davis.
There will be a Sidewalk Art exhibit and sale on Sunday with an Artists’ Reception for the Plein Air exhibit at the Big Bend Art Council’s “Gallery on the Square” in Alpine on Sunday evening, (work may be unframed or framed). Optional Monday events in Marathon, Terlingua, and the Rio Grande River road are also planned.
All plein air painters and people who are interested in watching the process are invited.
