Workshop Description
Hone your figure painting skills.  In this workshop we will work on capturing the essence of the model, drawing (with paint), paying attention to the negative spaces, value relationships and edges. This is a great time for working with a limited palette, if the student so desires.  There will be instructor demos and discussions, with questions welcomed. This class will be fun with lots of personal critique and interaction with the instructor. Embrace the challenge of painting the model in the studio as well as outdoors.

About the Instructor
Nancy Boren’s first painting, a watercolor done at age 12, while sitting next to her artist father James Boren as he painted at the Grand Canyon in the late 1960s. Her oils can be seen in the October 2015 issue of Southwest Art Magazine, Texas Traditions, 36 Contemporary Artists of the Lone Star State, by Michael Duty and Susan Halsten McGarry and Brushstrokes and Balladeers edited by C. J. Hadley. Her painting, “Aloft in the Western Sky” is part of the permanent collection of the Booth Western Art Museum in Georgia.  Nancy’s work has been shown at the National Arts Club, the Gilcrease Museum, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the Arts in Embassies program in Bujumbura, Burundi, Africa, and the national juried shows of the AWA, OPA, AIS, and the Outdoor Painters’ Society.
